Welcome and thank you for listening to episode 1 of the Taking Steps podcast, I am Krishon Allen and I will be your host and main contributor. Taking Steps is a podcast geared toward having conversations that motivate and challenge the listener to accomplish their goals, change perceptions, and learn something new. Taking Steps will also feature dynamic guest contributors from the worlds of finance, business, fitness, politics, and faith to provide practical tips and advice for our listeners.
A little about me (and hopefully over the course of the podcast and our conversations you will learn more) I’m a husband to my wife Danielle of 13 years and we have two daughters, who are growing way too fast. I am a Christian and try my best to guided by my faith – starting this podcast is one of those faith guided moments. I have a master’s in organizational leadership with a focus in coaching and mentoring, which is at the core of what I want to ultimately do with my life for both mission and at some point profession.
Obviously if you are listening to this in 2020 you know the crazy times that we are living in but a byproduct and blessing of all of this is the time I have been given. Time with my wife and kids, time to talk with family and friends (probably more than I have in the past 3 years combined), and time to attempt to do something that is productive and beneficial.
One common thing through much of the current time has been the presence of fear – not the false evidence appearing real kind of fear – but legitimate fear towards a possibly deadly virus, job loss, lack of income support, and not knowing when things will get better. But I think there is a hope, if fear is defined – what you can tackle can be tackled – peace becomes an intentional part of your daily routine – and love is given to those around you.
I believe fear does three things (of course there are variables between people) delays, fatigues, and limits
