In Taking Steps EP 3 we discuss the importance of defining WHY. Goals and dreams are a huge part of most of our lives. It is within the realm of goals and dreams that we decide to get that advanced degree, commit to that work out routine, start that business or make that move to a new city. But I believe at the center of going after your goals should be your WHY…I’m a huge proponent of starting with why (Starting with Why also happens to be one of my favorite books by Simon Sinek, I’ll be sure to add the text to the episode notes) believing that it sets the foundation for whatever goal you’re trying to achieve knowing why will ensure that every step you take, every conversation you have, and any advice you seek pertaining to your goal will be of value.

Questions:

  1. Am I wanting to  achieve this for me or to make someone else happy?
  2. Am I ready to dedicate the time needed to achieve this goal?
  3. What relationships or activities can I 'back burner' or reprioritize in order to achieve my goal?

Steps:

  1. Be deliberate.
  2. Consider building a relationship with a coach or mentor.
  3. Commit to your why but give space for growth and evolving.
